On the drive home, my son said it was the happiest day of his life. He’s going to be talking about this trip for a long time. A huge thank you to Captain James and Randy for making it such a memorable experience. They were patient, helpful, and great with kids throughout the entire trip.

We had an amazing time fishing with James and Randy. The halibut bite was steady all day, and everyone in our group was catching fish. Randy was an outstanding deckhand, always keeping us set up and ready to fish. What we appreciated most was that James and Randy let us do the fishing ourselves. Randy handled the baiting, and we did the rest. It never felt like we were just watching someone else catch fish for us. The crew was friendly, professional, and focused on making sure everyone had a great experience. We highly recommend booking a trip with them and will definitely be fishing with James again in the future.

Had a great time halibut fishing with this crew. Communication was excellent from start to finish, and the trip was both fun and productive. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality fishing experience.

My dad and I booked a full-day sturgeon trip, and despite starting the morning in thick fog and chilly conditions, the crew kept us on the fish all day. We had several early bites that didn’t quite connect, but the captain stayed focused and continued moving to different spots until we found the right opportunity. That persistence paid off when we landed the fish of a lifetime. It was an unforgettable moment, and we couldn’t have been happier. The captain and deckhand worked hard from start to finish, keeping the rods baited, lines in the water, and sharing their knowledge throughout the trip. Their dedication and determination made all the difference. We’re already planning our next trip and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a memorable day on the water.

As a single mom with two teenagers who grew up fishing in Minnesota, I know enough to enjoy the sport but still have plenty to learn. That’s where Captain James and Deck Boss Randy really stood out. Their knowledge, experience, and willingness to help made the trip enjoyable from start to finish. We’ve been on several fishing charters over the years, but none have been as fun or as productive as our trip with NorCal Traditions. Captain James knew exactly where to find the fish, and Randy was always there to help land them and keep everyone fishing. The entire experience was relaxed, professional, and incredibly successful. You can’t go wrong with this crew, and we’re already looking forward to booking another trip with them in the future.

James is a great captain! He always gets us on the fish and he makes wise decisions, so I always feel safe going out with him. We went out for salmon today and got limits for the boat. His prices are reasonable and his boat is comfortable and there’s a toilet that flushes for the ladies. Deckhand Randy did a great job getting the fish in the boat and gave clear instructions for those of us who may never have fished for salmon before or who haven’t fished for it in THREE YEARS. We got a 5 way hookup and landed all 5 fish. It was chaos, but the rush was Ah-mazing. I highly recommend this charter, we go out with him every chance we get.

Capt. James is great at not only ensuring everyone’s safety but also ensuring everyone has a good time. And most importantly he knows how to get you on the fish. Every time we go out with him, we definitely get our money’s worth! Highly recommend! Can’t wait for salmon season!
